COMUNIDAD
All things related to the gente of our Kansas City community and different projects and levels in which we engage with community
We spent 3 months teaching students at Westbridge Middle everything they need to know about making murals from the art front-end to the business back-end of it. The students created a mural concept and based on their commission request (from the school) and identifying needs from their community; reaching out to peers and staff. They then applied their mural knowledge to prepare to make a mural inside the hallways they walk past everyday. We hope that youth learn the culture and community that is brought together through art.
PAD: PERIPHERAL ARTERY DISEASE WITH MATTIE RHODES
This mural was made in collaboration with Mattie Rhodes, Carmen Moreno, and Jason Wilcox to bring awareness to Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). Located on the east wall of the building at the corner of Prospect and Independence Avenue in Northeast Kansas City, the mural visually depicts how people can recognize and address PAD along the different bubbles on the wall. The mural suggests PAD can be prevented by walking, screenings, quitting smoking, and others as well.

DELASALLE EDUCATION CENTER
As artists that are dedicated to painting and painting for our community, we value equitable access to art education. The De La Salle Education Center was one of the first youth collaborations and efforts to allow youth exposure to the arts and providing ourselves as a resource to guide future emerging artists. This video shows the process from the mural lesson to the hands-on training and development of the final mural.
